Updated Website for Better Outreach

Marketing & Digital

Established in 1978, the Ed Block Courage Award Foundation works to support the well-being of abused, neglected, and at-risk children through their Courage House National Support Network for Kids by providing monetary and gift-in-kind donations and services. They have a partnership with the National Football League (NFL) to cultivate awareness and have donated over $200,000 and $20,000+ in memorabilia for fundraising to their community partners over the last five years.

Challenge: Accessibility, Navigation, and Updated Format

The foundation strives to create and maintain a successful support network to assist with the long-term growth of the Courage House network to support the well-being of the children they advocate for. They knew they needed to be accessible to their network, partners, and sponsors. However, they had a website that was outdated, challenging to navigate, and difficult to maintain. Ultimately, they wanted to update their website to better facilitate growth in their mission. The website needed to be better formatted to showcase its purpose and allow users to engage effectively with the foundation.

Process & Solution: Refreshed Functionality and Content Management

To develop a newer, more modern, and engaging website to communicate the depth of what they do, the foundation shared what their needs were. From there, a sitemap was reviewed, and it was determined what type of content would be included on each page. The design was created with their needs for better functionality and navigation in mind, and the site was built and populated. After the site was developed, a better content management system was created to ensure future content could be added with ease.

The result is a redesigned website using a page builder to allow the foundation to easily add content and functionality in an engaging way. Content sets were created to ensure that the Courage Houses, NFL Teams, and Courage Award Winners were properly connected and updates would carry across from one piece of content to the rest. The sitemap was extended to include pages for each as well. Listings were formatted in a consistent and visually pleasing layout, and post formats were utilized to ensure dynamic and engaging blog posts that are easy to create. The layout and functionality of the Courage Houses pages were improved, and a similar layout for the Courage Award Winners was also created.
