Mesh banners in Towson University outdoor stadium stands

It’s been a wild winter, and certainly a blustery one these past few days. Around this time last year, we gave our readers a few tips on sprucing up their signage after a particularly harsh winter. This year, we’d love to introduce outdoor signage that’s specifically designed for windy conditions: mesh banners.

Mesh banners are lightweight, durable and virtually windproof, as the material allows air to flow through the banner freely, eliminating rips and tears.

As with all types of signage, there are situations where mesh banners sail above the competition.

Mesh banners are best for covering large areas, like buildings, sporting arenas, bleachers, schools, construction sites and chain-linked fences. They effectively advertise for you on a large scale while covering unsightly or unattractive areas. Check out this mesh screening hiding the inventory cage in our production facility.

So how does it work? It’s simple, really: the mesh material consists of interwoven fiber that produces tiny holes or perforations throughout the piece. This essentially allows the material to breathe, as wind and air pass right through.

They’re easy to display and maintain as well. Simply hang them using ropes, bungee cords or zip ties attached to grommets located every two feet along the edge of the seam and at the corners of the banner.

Cleaning your new investment is a ‘breeze!’ All you need is a bucket of warm, soapy water and a sponge. Gently scrub it down, allow it to air-dry, then simply roll it up and store it for the next season.

Pro Tip: If you’re ‘torn’ between a vinyl and a mesh banner, consider the placement of your message. Because of the material, mesh banners are printed on one side only, so if you’re looking for signage that can be read from multiple directions, go with vinyl.

Check out a sample of mesh screening we designed and installed around the building for our Open House celebration (they effectively blocked foot traffic to off-limit areas, while matching the look, feel and theme of the event).

As winter gives way to spring, imagine all the possibilities for custom mesh banners, and give us a call for a quote.
